A Sonnet of Justice

by Douglas Lay December 2018

Their tear-stained eyes poured out the silent pain

Buried deep inside with the sign of Cain

From the souls of the children, alone in

The pew, immersed in the predator’s sin.

Yet the chorus of the choir rose on high

as the beams in their eyes covered the lies

preached from the pulpits that all seems so well

while Satan sings praises in his new hell.

“Let there be light”; and it poured out as so

From heaven to his creation below.

“darkness depart!” Be gone. Do not remain;

All shall be revealed—uncover the shame

Of the millstone to be placed on his bride

If she cover-up their scars on his side.
